Rush is for Segregated Buses

by: mooncat

Thu Sep 17, 2009 at 12:54:22 PM CDT

Rush LimbaughNo matter how far we've come, there's always some fool who wants to turn around and go back.

All too often lately that fool is Rush Limbaugh.

LIMBAUGH: I think the guy's wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that's the lesson we're being taught here today. Kid shouldn't have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses -- it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama's America.

I tell you, the GOP will pin all it's 2010 electoral hopes on fanning the flames of racial resentment.  You're hearing it first from Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, but watch for Republican candidates and office holders to jump on the bandwagon, too.  They're looking forward to the bad old days, for sure.

Now, Don't you feel STOOPID?

by: Redeye

Tue Sep 08, 2009 at 12:44:37 PM CDT

I'm asking all of you.

All of you who followed the advice of an alcoholic and a drug addict like mice following the Pied Piper.

All of you who rushed to judgment about the contents of President Obama's speech based on the ravings of an alcoholic and a drug addict.

All of you who put their petty politics before the best interest of students.

All of you who were afraid to stand up to the white wing bigots and defend the RIGHT of the President of the United States of America to speak to school children.

I'm asking the Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools if she feels stoopid for allowing the white wing bigots to use her as a tool to help spread bigotry and disrespect by allowing teachers to make the decision if student listen to the President?  What's next, letting them opt out of teaching Biology, Chemistry, Math, English?

I'm asking the Huntsville City School Board is they feel stoopid for not standing up for what is right and good and fair and letting HCS parents down who support the President and his education agenda and who taxpayers elected represnt them too?  Would the "concerns" of African American taxpayers recieve the same consideration?  I think NOT. Strike that. I KNOW NOT.

I'm asking the Huntsville City School Teachers who "opted" out of letting students hear the speech if they feel stoopid for not letting students receive motivation and inspiration from the first African American President of the United States of America.  A President that "pulled himself up by his bootstrap" and succeed despite his circumstances?  What lesson did those that opted out teach students?

I'm asking the parents of HCS school students who didn't want their students "brainwashed" by the President's political agenda if they are happy they taught their students about bigotry, racism, pettiness live and in living color?  Children are our future, how can they move forward and make this world a better place if they are taught to hate someone because of the color of their skin?  How are we going to move forward together, one nation, under God, with Liberty and Justice for ALL, if the children of the future are full of the prejudice and racism of the past?

I'm asking the stoopid media we have if they feel stoopid for inflaming and enabling the white wing bigots at the behest of an alcoholic and a drug addict?  I don't recall democratic controversies garnering the same media attention.  As a matter of fact, democratic dissent was suppressed. Rush and Glenn start something and the media gladly finishes it.

WE (including the media) need to start  treating the white wing bigots like we treat the alcoholic uncle or the drug addicted aunt who show up drunk or high at the family gatherings and IGNORE them.  If they refused to be ignored WE SHOULD CALL THEM OUT. Start standing up to the right wing bullies.

Redeye tiptoeing away from the computer to go print up some I'm with Stoopid T-Shirts to give to Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck followers.

Redeye's Wednesday Blog Stroll

by: Redeye

Wed Jul 08, 2009 at 11:37:50 AM CDT

I am convinced the gop and the media believe we the people are not only stoopid, but suffering from amnesia as well.  We got a preview of the latest right wing talking point on LiA last week (Where in the world is the stimlus mone?), the "The Stimulus is a failure" and the "No more stimulus"  meme is the gop/media talking point of the day.  I guess the gop thinks we the people have forgotten how the party of NO blocked and obstructed President Obama's original stimulus plan.  Does the media think we have forgotten Rush's "I want Obama to fail" messege?  Remember how we tried to tell them it was a jobs bill when Sanford, Palin, Riely and others were grand standing  pretending they were going to refuse stimulus money?  Remember how the Obama administration fell for the media driven "the stimulus has got to be bipartisian" meme?  Listen up Democrats, get a clue from Senator Al Franken.  Stop listening to the media and the gop and start listening to the people who elected you.

Weeall,  what do you know?  While the country and the media were(ahem) distracted by Michael Jacksons' memorial service yesterday, Karl Rove was taking mini steps towards a frog march.  I wonder if there was any waterboarding involved?

My girl GrannyStandingforTruth says if you want to know why african americans like something or someone ask two white women teevee talking pundit heads from Faux News.  And would someone please tell me what give Bill O'Rielly the right to tell black people who they can or cannot hold up as icons?  I mean, really?

Are Uninsured Americans Supposed To Go To Animal Hospitals?

by: mooncat

Mon Jun 15, 2009 at 12:14:59 PM CDT

RadioOK, I was just listening to Rush Limbaugh.  He's going on about a new puppy and all the services offered at Park East Animal Hospital in NYC.  And he says this just goes to show that American health care is just fine as is and there's no need for the government to get involved.  I admit Park East looks like a dandy animal hospital -- bet they don't do EKGs and endoscopies for cheap, either -- but how the heck does that bear on the HUMAN HEALTH CARE issue?  Is Rush suggesting that uninsured people can just go to the local vet when they're sick or hurt?

The right-wing's favorite dope user never makes much sense to me but today's talking point is even less comprehensible than usual.

Race Links I LIke

by: Redeye

Wed May 27, 2009 at 19:47:22 PM CDT

WTF is "reverse racism"?  This is the mode of attack right wing republican neocons under the leadership of Rush Limpballs and Newt Gringrich, are using to bash President Barack Obama, the first African American President of the United States, and Sonya Sotomayer, the first Hispanic woman nominated to the United States Supreme Court. Evidently, I'm not the only one asking the question. Check out these  definitions from the Urban Dictionary. This is my favorite;

I'm going out on a limb here people, but bear with me...
Reverse racism, in actuality, shouldn't even be a term... It's described as the act of racism against a majority (typically used in context of whites). But...isn't that just plain old regular racism? Last time I checked, Caucasian WAS a race. And I'm willing to bet that any other majority suffering from "reverse racism" is a race too. So why isn't it just racism? Why give it a fancy new term? If you wanted to take the literal definition, reverse racism would actually be the opposite: supporting a race as equal to another. Just a thought.
Reverse racism- The act of being racist. In reverse.

Racism vs Reality H/T to Michael D at Daily Kos who puts Sotomayors words in context, something the media we have is loath to do.

In context, you see that Judge Sotomayor believes justices should strive to overcome personal biases, but she also believes we all have different perspectives, experiences, and perhaps even ways of reasoning.

Meanwhile back home in Sweet Home Alabama, Laws and the people who will  make them. (Satire).

You gotta love those folks in Alabama. Seems that the people of that great state have voted to allow businesses within the state's borders to pay Negroes half of what they pay each of their white workers.

Not to be left out our neighboring state of Georgia has segregated proms in 2009.

Racially segregated proms have been held in Montgomery County — where about two-thirds of the population is white — almost every year since its schools were integrated in 1971.

This is the kind of candidates/politicians we wish we had instead of the candidates/politicians we have.

Redeye race rant over and OUT.

Will Rush Limbaugh Be the Death of Clear Channel?

by: mooncat

Fri May 08, 2009 at 10:27:49 AM CDT

RadioClear Channel just laid off another 590 radio employees after cutting 1850 back in January.

Do you miss having a local, local radio station since Clear Channel bought yours and started playing cookie cutter muzak-lite carefully designed to appeal equally to everyone, everywhere?  Which is to say they play pap, utterly devoid of local interest, appealing to no one.  If so, don't despair.  Rush Limbaugh is doing his darndest to drive Clear Channel out of business.  He's doing it out of greed, of course, not any concern for the public welfare but who cares about the motive if it breaks the airwave monopoly and gives us better, locally relevant programming.

Clear Channel's fall from business grace remains epic in its proportions. In 10 years time the company has gone from dominating a flourishing radio industry to a corporation that now teeters on the brink. (Clear Channel stock traded for $90 a share in 2000. When the radio company went private last year, pre-crash, the stock was already down in the $30s.) Lots of over-extended, debt-ridden media conglomerates are struggling through today's deep economic recession, but few face a future quite as perilous as the one staring back at the San Antonio radio giant.

And yet Clear Channel's most famous employee, Rush Limbaugh, remains oblivious to it all. I sometimes wonder what Limbaugh thinks when he reads about the not-so-slow-motion collapse of his radio employer while lounging in his 24,000-square-foot Florida estate or motoring in his $450,000 car to the airport to ride in his $54 million jet. Does Limbaugh feel bad? Does he feel a little guilty? And does he ever think about giving some of his riches back so that thousands of radio colleagues wouldn't have to be bounced to the curb?

Heck no!  Rush doesn't think about helping his laid off radio colleagues.  What, you think he's some kind of socialist or something?

TEA Partiers and the Surveillance State: Paging the ACLU!

by: countrycat

Wed Apr 15, 2009 at 09:15:14 AM CDT

Don't spy on meAnd then they came for the  Republicans....

Having read on Flashpointblog yesterday that the blog's founder, Brian, was to appear on a local talk radio morning show today, I tuned in a little after 7am to hear him.

I must have gotten the time wrong though, because instead of Brian's usually reasonable arguments, I listened to a snippet of this discussion:  Is Obama a Socialist?

"Oh, Good God," I thought.  "What drivel."

Later, the talk turned to something that has many of the TEA partiers wildly upset: reports that the Department of Homeland Security will be monitoring the TEA parties across the United States.

As Glenn Greenwald so succinctly puts it, it's "The Ultimate Reaping of What One Sows: Right Wing Edition."

All of the enabling legislation underlying this Surveillance State.... are the spawns of the very right-wing movement that today is petrified that this is all being directed at them.

When you cheer on a Surveillance State, you have no grounds to complain when it turns its eyes on you.  If you create a massive and wildly empowered domestic surveillance apparatus, it's going to monitor and investigate domestic political activity.  That's its nature.

Oh, I remember Republicans telling me not that long ago that "if you have nothing to hide, what's the problem?" and "civil liberties don't matter if you're dead" and "Bush is just trying to keep us safe."

But now... the warrantless wiretaps are on the other phone!  And the right wing is apoplectic.

The Spew That Keeps on Giving (to Democrats): Rush Limbaugh on Torture

by: countrycat

Wed Apr 08, 2009 at 09:03:57 AM CDT

Via Media Matters, Andrew Sullivan has the transcript of a remarkable exchange that took place on Limbaugh's show recently.  A veteran takes Limbaugh to task for supporting torture and for being part of the reason that Obama won.

You have to ask... how did this guy get through the call screeners?  Just be glad they slipped up.

The entire exchange is on the flip, but here's the beginning:

CALLER: Thanks, Rush. Rush, listen, I voted Republican, and I didn't -- really didn't want to see Obama get in office. But, you know, Rush, you're one reason to blame for this election, for the Republicans losing.

First of all, you kept harping about voting for Hillary. The second big issue is the -- was the torture issue. I'm a veteran. We're not supposed to be torturing these people. This is not Nazi Germany, Red China, or North Korea. There's other ways of interrogating people, and you kept harping about it -- "It's OK," or "It's not really torture." And it was just more than waterboarding. Some of these prisoners were killed under torture.

Charles Barkley: Right About Rush

by: mooncat

Mon Mar 09, 2009 at 17:13:35 PM CDT

Charles Barkley calls Rush Limbaugh a "Jackass"  for giving President Obama a hard time.

I couldn't agree more.  The little bit I heard of Rush's show today he was going off about how Obama is too busy with other things to manage the economy, so maybe he should just quit doing other stuff like budgets, wars, authorizing stem cell research and so forth until Wall Street gets healthy again.

Documenting the Atrocities

by: mooncat

Sat Mar 07, 2009 at 11:30:00 AM CST

Where to start?

How about Republicans who like to fantasize about Democrats dying?  Especially Democrats who are fighting against cancer.  Insensitive?  Boorish?  Nah.  Obsession with dying Democrats is just routine trash talking if you're Senator Jim Bunning (R, KY) who said Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be dead in 9 months from pancreatic cancer or de facto head of the Republican party Rush Limbaugh who says Senator Ted Kennedy will be dead of a brain tumor before health care legislation is passed.

Oh my God!  First Lady Michelle Obama served meals at a Washington, DC soup kitchen -- and proved that poor people aren't poor enough!  Turn in all your possessions and clothing before getting in line for that soup, you bum!  Did Laura or Barbara Bush ever serve soup to the poor?  Just asking.

The right really does want to fight the Civil War all over again.  Thursday morning I heard Neal Boortz going on about America under President Obama.  He actually advocated secession to a caller from Texas.  The guy on the line said the treaty does allow Texas to split into as many as 5 states which wasn't enough for Boortz.  He said if Texas seceded he would be willing to relocate there (is that supposed to be an incentive?)  Anyway, this was too much for the caller who said he couldn't go along with that because he felt secession would be treason.  Boortz pushed the caller, who held his ground.  Are the hate talkers finally losing their audience?

As they decry pork and excessive spending, Republican Senators, including our own Dick Shelby, are jostling for position at the earmark trough.

Republicans are calling for RNC Chair Michael Steele's head -- even though he grovelled to Rush Limbaugh.  They say he hasn't been an effective leader after what, 5 weeks on the job?  He wasn't really the guy the party wanted.  It took 6 ballots to elect him.  Surely to goodness the move to kick him out is unrelated to the fact that Steele is black.

I only just heard of Ms. Martha Peace, Titus 2 and The Excellent Wife, but I don't like them.

Bowtie Boy had a truth attack a couple of years ago.  It's worth a replay.  "The deep truth is that the elites in the Republican Party have pure contempt for the evangelicals who put their party in power."  Amen, brother Tucker!

"The deep truth is that the elites in the Republican Party have pure contempt for the evangelicals who put their party in power."

Breaking News -- Rush Limbaugh is an Entertainer!

by: mooncat

Mon Mar 02, 2009 at 11:45:00 AM CST

OK, we've been saying that for years.  The headline should have been:

Breaking News -- RNC Chair Admits Rush Limbaugh is an Entertainer!

RNC Chairman Michael Steele attempts to distance his party from Limbaugh on CNN last night.

STEELE: So let’s put it into context here. Let’s put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it’s incendiary. Yes, it’s ugly.

Rush Limbaugh is not in the news business, or the fact business or the information business.  He's an entertainer trying to make a buck, plain and simple, and he's had a hell of a wheeze going with his "excellence in broadcasting thing."  It's very successful entertainment, but anyone getting their news and information from Rush's show can't help but be woefully misinformed.

If you or someone you love falls into that category, please take appropriate action.  Here's the first step -- reach out to the power button on the radio and press it to OFF.  If that fails, disconnect it from the power source.  Now look around for a newspaper.  Most of those still contain some news articles.

Would you boycott Limbaugh's sponsors?

by: Grace

Sun Feb 01, 2009 at 10:34:49 AM CST

If you are as tired as I am about the hate and lies being spwed out by Rush Limbaugh and his ilk, you might want to consider writing to his sponsors and informing them of your displeasure over Limbaugh's remark that he hopes President Obama "FAILS."  The Daily Kos and Democratic Underground have provided this list (below) of Limbaugh Sponsors.

GEICO has now wirthdrawn it's sponsorship of Limbaugh's show, but the show is still being broadcasted on the Armed Services Network.  Some of you Legal Eagles out there please double check me on this one, but isn't it a violation of the Hatch Act to broadcast such a politically biased show to government employees (service men and women) on a network paid for, in part,  by U. S. Tax dollars?

What I Learned This Week

by: Redeye

Fri Jan 23, 2009 at 11:24:10 AM CST

Anyone can make a  mistakes and everyone deserves the chance to correct the mistake.

Rush Limpballs and Sean InSanity hate us for our freedoms.

Why they (gop/right wing conservatives) are skeered of AG nominee Eric Holder and President Barack Obama.

Progressivism is now the most dangerous force in American politics, and everything that is being done is being done to push its ideas to the margins, while claiming to be doing something about the problems that those ideas address.

I am trying to be post racial, I really am.

Some were offended by Huntville Native, Reverend Joseph Lowery's benediction at the Inaugural.  I wasn't offended but I understand.  That's how I felt about The Azalea Trail Maids being Alabama's only representative in the inaugural parade at taxpayer expense.

If anything I feel a bit sad for him.  There he was, giving the benediction for the country’s first black president.  A black man elected not soleley by other blacks, but also by a very large number of whites.  The very fact that Lowery was standing there proved that white people didn’t hold Obama’s race against him as Rev. Lowery was accustomed to many decades ago.  By his definition they had already embraced what is right (actually left in this case, but you know what I mean).  Poor Lowery just can’t seem to overcome his training that the white man is evil enough to recognize that a black man has been made the most powerful man in the world thanks in large part to white people.  It must suck to not be able to fully realize and accept what you’ve helped accomplish.

So, what did you learn this week?
