Being the true political junkie that I am, I usually begin my day waking to The Tom Joyner Morning Show on my clock radio so I can hear what black folks are talking about. Then I tune in to C-Span's Washington Journal to hear what "real Americans are talking about, then I flip/flop between Morning Joke, I mean Joe on MSNBC and American Morning on CNN. Then I boot up my trusty desk top, log on to Left in Alabama to find out what's really going on in the world of politics.
This is what one CNN Talking Pundit Head just said to another CNN Talking Pundit Head after the head quoted the results of a "CNN research poll" that claims Obama is losing the support of the American people, they don't support his economic polices and healthcare reform, blah, blah, blab, blab. The economy and the recession aren't improving under Obama, blah blah, blab, blab.
Uh Oh, here comes the "Senior CNN Analyst" saying the republicans are gaining traction because more of you worry about the deficit. Oh really?
Now comes the question of the day, "When it comes to health care reform is 6 lobbyist per Congressman enough?"

"... the intimidation tactics which the Republicans have embraced are being used in a well-financed, top-down orchestrated fake grass roots campaign by corporate interests to try and protect the profits of the insurance business. Armey's FreedomWorks is organizing against health care reform. Armey's lobbying firm represents pharmaceutical companies including Bristol-Myers Squibb. Armey's lobbying firm also represents the trade group for the life insurance industry. FreedomWorks is supporting the status quo at all costs. (They are also fans of fossil fuels. Armey's lobbying firm represents Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE, on energy related issues." --Francis Schaeffer
CNN Refusing To Run Health Care Ad Critical Of Insurance
theplumline.whorunsgov.com - The network - already taking criticism for declining to run an ad criticizing Lou Dobbs - is now refusing to run an ad nationally criticizing the insurance industry, the group that tried to place the ad tells me. CNN's reason: The ad "unnecessarily" singles out a top insurance industry executive by name for criticism.
Fox deceptively cuts out 15 seconds from ad critical of Rove watch!
dailykostv.com - Here's video of Fox's Chris Wallace and Karl Rove playing what they claimed to be a DNC ad criticizing Rove, along with the actual, unedited ad from the DNC
Lest we forget who is really running this GOP-MOB sideshow, I've just plugged in a few of the latest stories. These frightened sheep are being expertly herded by Big Insurance, Big Pharma, the GOP, and anyone else with a few bucks to lose if Americans get medical coverage without going though them. They put the screws to CNN, and CNN caved.
http://www.alternet.org/health... The right knows that they are supposed to hate Obamacare; the only problem is that they keep forgetting why. According to a study that they have been widely touting it promises to both increase coverage and reduce costs. Presumably these are not the reasons they oppose President Obama's plan.

How sad it all is! These poor people think they are fighting for America. They think they are Fighting for Freedom. How did Big Insurance pull it off? You really have to step back and admire the sheer, evil genius of it all, and bow your head in a quick prayer for the poor, blind, ignorant souls they manipulate.
They are hauling their poor old tired carcasses out to Town Halls fighting for Blue Cross and Cigna, who take a third of their wages before taxes. They are fighting to keep drug costs high, so that Bristol-Meyers and Wyeth can show a nice quarterly profit.
They only know what Fox News tells them, and FOX is about as American as Pravda. But then, they probably don't know that, either.
I will remember the day Michael Jackson died as vividly as I remember the day JFK, MLK, RFK and Elvis died. I've attempted to compose a dairy in honor of Michael Jackson several times but the words wouldn't come. I guess it really didn't hit me until today that he was really gone. As my daddy says, there is nothing like " sad singing and slow walking" to make the sting of death a reality. Although there was very little sad singing today, the home going celebration for Michael Jackson gave me closure.
Friday, June 25, 2009 was one of those rare days when I wasn't blogging with the television on in the background. I wasn't riding around in my car so I didn't listen to XM radio. I didn't even have a chance to check my Blackberry for email messages until about 5:00 PM CST while walking to a resturant to meet friends for dinner. I read the CNN Breaking News alert on my email and the first thing I thought was, Oh Lord, what have the right wing nuts done now? My heart sank when I read "Michael Jackson in a coma after suffering Cardiac Arrest". I hurried to the resturant thinking I was going to inform my friends but when I walked into the resturant it was dead silent. People were crowded around the bar glued to the television set. Then came the terrible news. Michael Jackson had died.
Those that want to read more follow me below the fold.
Don't get me wrong, I feel the Iranian protestors' pain and disappointment in the outcome of their elections, but the media we have is all Iranian protest all the time. CNN, MSNBC, nor Faux News have reporters on the ground in Iraq, I mean Iran, so they are depending on twitter and facebook as the source of the information they diseminate. When I listen to the media we have reporting on the Iranian protest, it's like deja vu all over again. Remember the media led drum beat march to war in Iraq?
I know Iran is the total and complete focus of every media person on the planet right now, but in all honesty, I see stories like this one about the ongoing slaughter in Iraq all the time and I wonder where all the outrage and concern over this cornucopia of death and misery went?
We must laugh to keep from crying. Talking TeeVee Pundit Head translations from Sunday's Meet the Pest, I mean Press, with Sam Nunn and Grandpa Fred Thompson. h/t The Bobblespeak.
All Politics is local and our favorite right wing blog Flashpoint is all in a twitter (pun intended) because state house representative district 6 democratic candidate Jenny Askins turned down a chance to debate Phil Williams (r. teabagger ) on WHNT TV for 30 minutes. Jenny explains her reason for not wasting time on TeeVee when she could be connecting to voters face to face. Um, haven't I heard that somewhere before?
One wonders if that absence will draw fire from women's health advocates, some of whom believed the family-planning provision could make a quick comeback after it got dumped earlier this month. When GOP governors such as Minnesota's Tim Pawlenty are using Medicaid family-planning money as an excuse to cut their budgets, how can congressional conservatives get away with slamming the program as taxpayer-funded abortions?
WASHINGTON - Lilly Ledbetter, the Jacksonville woman who spoke at the Democratic National Convention last year and is the namesake of federal legislation regarding employment rights, will be a special guest on the train carrying President-elect Barack Obama to his inauguration.
Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden will take a whistle stop tour along the east coast before arriving in Washington for the Jan. 20 inauguration, and Ledbetter will be one of about 40 invited guests on the train.
Ah, those pro-life red states. Mississippi now has highest birthrate among teens. Reckon it's got anything do with the fact Bush and Company closed all the planned parenthood clinics and used the money to tell teenage girls if they don't want to get pregnant don't have sex with boys?
Some experts have blamed the national increase on increased federal funding for abstinence-only health education that does not teach teens how to use condoms and other contraception. They said that would explain why teen birth rate increases have been detected across much of the country and not just in a few spots.
Owens, a fellow of the American Institute of Architects, focused on the case of Horace Huntley, a long-time UAB history professor. Huntley has sued the university, claiming discriminatory treatment based on race.
Roland Burris is our man, if he can't do it nobody can!
Watch him handle the White Wing Media. I just head CNN Talking TeeVee Pundit Head Rick Sanchez, say Roland Burris was "almost angry and that he wasn't "afraid of the camera, as a matter of fact he likes the cameras" Huh?. He's counter part responded he was "surprised Burris was speaking out in the media" and that Barack Obama, who is African American, and the IL SOC who are both African American has said he should not be seated which helps Senate Democrats". Huh?
Writing for Daily Kos, the girl expresses her gratitude to the Iraqi Journalist who threw both his shoes at pResident Bush for her early Christmas gift.
Okay, I got what I wanted for Christmas.
A few days ago I wrote a diary about having George W. Bush brought to my house tied up in a red bow (just like Clark Griswold's boss in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) so he could explain to me exactly why he's ruined my son's Christmas - as well as his safety, security and his environment.
So while I didn't get to personally shove my Christmas tree up George W.'s ass, watching the shoes whiz by his head was almost as good. In fact, it was better because I didn't actually have to stomach seeing George W's actual ass.
And because I didn't actually have to suffer being tackled to the ground, dragged off and end up being taken into custody without my shoes.
Kos says if CNN Talking TeeVee Head John King is asking Obama to prove a negative and if he wants to play the guilt by state association game have at it. I didn't know John King was from Idaho.
John King is from Idaho, which makes me wonder if he has ever had a tryst with Larry Craig, who is also from Idaho. Don’t you see the obvious connection? They are both from Idaho, just like Obama and Balgojevich are BOTH FROM CHICAGO. It is right there in front of your eyes, folks! Will John King be able to prove he has never had sex with Larry Craig in a bathroom stall? We need answers!
Oliver Willis is wondering if he can call republicans traitors and accuse them of undermining the Commander in Chief when they go after President Elect Obama like they did him? A commenter says NO way.
No. No you will not. Going after Obama will be a sign of fair-minded patriotism, and Obama will not be the Commander In Chief — as a Democrat, he cannot properly hold that title.
Instead he will be relabeled “Destroyer of the Military” just like Bill Clinton was so harshly blamed for the tiny force and base reductions started by Bush Sr., because, hey, obviously it was just craaaaazy to think that after the Soviet Union collapsed we could maybe save some money on WWII era nonfunctional bases.
The African American Political Pundit weighs in on the Carolyn Kennedy and wonders if race and class will make her questions her the next U.S. Senator.
Speaking of qualified black persons being at the bottom of the list my favorite conservative blog Flashpoint agrees with Charles Barkley that race was the reason Turner Gill was not hired as head coach at Auburn.
There was no animus toward Chizik. Who can blame him? If you ran your company into the ground and then one of your competitors offered you their vacant CEO position at double the salary you would take it too. No, something clearly is amiss in the upper echelons of Auburn and its board for this hiring decision to be made.
You know the Capital One Credit Card commercial that ask "What's in your wallet"? Well I conducted a very unscientfic survey about what advertisors were on my TeeVee. I am a political junkie so most of these are from CNN and MSNBC with The Food Network thrown in for sanity, I mean flavor.
Here a random sample of what's on my TeeVee:
Bank of America
Di Tech
The Salvation Army
Medicare.com (paid for the Department of Health and Human Services)
Come to Jamaica and Feel Allright! (Amierican Airlines Vacations)
I found this wonderfully witty commentary at the Guardian UK about the cable news commentators during the last day of convention coverage and the 'Big Speech.' It's spot on and quite funny.
"If Nora O'Donnell refers to the "optics of this event" one more time, I'll go on a killing spree. It's nonetheless an improvement on what's going down at Fox, where they're rehashing "the Jeremiah Wright scandal" and Brit Hume begrudgingly admits that Mile-High Stadium is 'pretty full.' It's full metal crazy over there."
War declared against MSNBC! Comcast is cancelling MSNBC in Pittsburg but keeping Faux Noose and CNN. (H/T) DailyKos
Effective Tuesday, July 15, Comcast customers in the Pittsburgh area awoke to find that MSNBC was no longer available on non-digital cable. I came home eager to get my daily dose of Hardball and Countdown, but all I receive is a black screen.
Faux Noose Talking TeeVee Pundit Head and Karl Rove groupie Chris Wallace says MSNBC is biased. (H/T WriteChic Press and Crooks and Liars)
Howard Dean is just what the Doctor ordered! Transcript of his TKO H/T Daily Kos. Hmmm, I wonder if that is why War has been declared on MSNBC?
Get on the bus!
This is what the people of the south are up against ... Bush & Cheney and McCain have scared the hell out of them ... about stuff like this and it hasn't served the people of the south or the rest of the country very well.
Our message is, "Let's worry about $4 gas .. Let's worry about the mortgage scandals ... Let's worry about Bush's & McCain's indifference to the victims of Katrina."
John McCain went and talked about education today. He voted against Head Start. This is a guy who'll say anything to get elected.
We've seen enough of that.
We don't need a third term of George Bush. We need real solutions to the economy. People in Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and Georgia need that just as much as people from Pennsylvania and Michigan.
.
I hope you are sitting down to read this one. The Field Negro defends The New Yorker Magazine cover of Barack and Michelle Obama!
But isn't this a case of shooting the messenger? If you Obamaholics don't think that a significant number of your fellow citizens feel that the idiotic caricature on the cover of this magazine is accurate, well then I have a nice little antique bell with a crack in it to sell you from my hometown. Which, if you believe the Editors of this magazine, was the point of the cover: To make fun of the ignorant folks in A-merry-ca who actually believe that the pic is an accurate portrayal of his "O" ness. Ahhh field, come on, if this was FOX you would be all over them. I smell a double standard here. If you smell double standard, you have a heck of a good nose, because it probably is on my part. You see it's like this: FOX has a history of doing ignorant and racist shit, and they cater to the very folks this magazine happens to be lampooning. The clowns over at FOX are the ones who gave us the terrorist fist pump, the intentional mispronunciation of Obama's name, and the studio pundits who make fun of his wife and call her angry. So you damn right that if this was FOX I would have been all over their backwards ass behinds, and I make no apologies for that.
The Field says look past the cover and read the article. For those so inclined here is the link. Those that claim they don't know what Obama stands for, or don't know who he is will be informed. It's about the article, not the cover Stupid! I'm going to confess to being stupid on this one and falling for the Okey Doke, now that I've read the entire article I understand the context of the cover. Are you still sitting down?
THIS wins the award for the "Have They No Shame" catagory.
Apparently, even though I never talked about Troy King's wife or kids, nor did I allow anyone else to on this blog, my children are now being threatened because some anon poster is angry that they can't beat me in a battle of smart-assery on an internet forum.
I can only shake my head....

Thanks to Crooks and Liars I have an overview of what the Talking TeeVee Pundit Heads were "discussing" today. Of course it was All Reverend Wright All The Time, UNfair and UNbalanced. I mean who cares about the war, or our troops, or gas prices, or the economy, or health care when we've got Reverend Wright to bash and smear?
Rangel: It’s disgraceful that he has to make any explanation for anything. The intrusion of the media and Republicans into the sacred relationship that worshipers have with their spiritual leaders I think is going to come back to haunt us. To think that we have to go into the lives and the beliefs of Rabbis and Priests and ministers and Imams is absolutely ridiculous. We’ve got a war on. We’ve got an economy that’s splintered. I think the media should be more responsible and start dealing with those issues. I don’t think many people care what reverend Wright thinks and I don’t see why any candidate should have to explain what ..
Dean! Dean! He's our man, if he can't do it nobody can! Howard Dean blast Chris"Faux News" Wallace and calls them out for race baiting. I love Howard Dean. He is not afraid to tell it like it IS!
Wallace: Governor, are you suggesting that bringing up Jeremiah Wright is “race-baiting” and hate and divisive?
Dean:Yeah, I am suggesting that kind of stuff.I think when you start bringing up candidates that have nothing to do with the issues…uh when you start bringing up things that have nothing to do with the candidate, nothing to do with the issues, that’s race-baiting. And that’s exactly what it is.Just like Willie Horton was race-baiting so many years ago.I think we’re going to take…we’re going to turn the page on this stuff.I’ll tell you, there’s a lot of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats on issues, but the biggest issue of all is we don’t use this kind of stuff. We never have used this kind of stuff and we’re not going to start now.America is more important than the Republican party and that’s the lesson the voters are about to teach the Republicans.
*Snicker
Chris "Tweety" Matthews says who cares what the American people think, we, I mean the GOP are going to make Wright an issue. I guess the media is making Wright an issue so McSame and the GOP won't have to, you know, like fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them over here.
Matthews:Can a brilliant politician – Barack included, perhaps, perhaps – turn this around? Can he show that he’s different? So different from the Rev. Wright that he should be elected President?
*Guilt by association?
Bob Schieffer of Face the Nation is finally seeing the light, sort of:
But the $64,000 question that Schieffer refuses to address is how much responsibility should the establishment media take upon itself for unconditionally and unquestioningly putting out White House talking points with no context or independent fact finding. Where is the onus on the Fourth Estate?
*Where indeed?
Despite what the "Liberal" media would have folks people, Reverend Wright has support and supporters.
Like the so-called liberal ministers in Alabama who chastised Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as he sat imprisoned in a Birmingham Jail, these news pundits charge Rev. Wright, and by extension the black church, with "mixing politics with religion" and misleading "ignorant black people" into an adversarial relationship with "their government." And like those so-called "liberal" white preachers in Alabama who attacked Dr. King, several have even quoted various biblical texts as evidence that Rev. Wright, and Trinity United Church of Christ are not following Christian biblical principles.
*It's the media.
You won't see anyone from the PCUSA on TeeVee but thank God for the Blogosphere.
“Without strong theology, preaching becomes entertainment, and there is a tendency to make church life center around the preacher.”
*You think?
"...if by a 'Liberal' they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a 'Liberal,' then I'm proud to say I'm a 'Liberal.'" --- JFK, NY Liberal Party Nomination, 9/14/1960
