Mike Rogers Calls Pelosi "Crazy," "Tom Delay in a Skirt"

by: mooncat

Mon Apr 06, 2009 at 22:36:33 PM CDT

Rep. Mike Rogers (R, Bizzaroland) is horribly confused, disrespectful and bellyaching about being in the minority.  Emphasis mine.

Despite President Barack Obama's commitment to bipartisanship, Rogers says Speaker of House Nancy Pelosi (whom he described as "crazy," "mean as a snake" and "Tom DeLay in a skirt") and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid didn't get that memo.

"They don't talk to us," he said. "They've got the vote, and they can do what they want."

Rogers said to be fair Democrats are paying Republicans back for how they were treated when the Republicans controlled Congress.

"Republican leaders didn't talk to the Democrats," he said. "The attitude was 'We have the votes on our side, let the Democrats whine.'"

Calling a woman -- any woman, but especially Speaker Pelosi who is a mere two heartbeats from the presidency -- "crazy" and "mean as a snake" is inexcusable.  Mike Rogers needs to issue an apology and he needs to do it yesterday.

And last time I looked Nancy Pelosi hasn't been indicted for anything, so that kind of cuts into Rogers'  Tom Delay analogy.  As for the whining about being on the losing side when the votes are counted, I don't remember Mike Rogers standing up demanding more rights for the minority when he was in the majority party.  No integrity and no credibility on that score.

Mike Rogers:  He can dish it out but he can't take it.  And he's rude to boot.

Run Josh Run (4.00 / 3)
Can i get an amen gallery?

I wrote a diary on this also

Remember that Rogers took money from DeLay and never returned it

He also said he was going to be a pain in Pelosi's ass.

There's a lot of room for growth here (4.00 / 2)
Lots of commenters on Huffington Post are pissed off. Not a single one seems to know who Mike Rogers is. If last election wasn't a presidential year he would have been a household name. Hopefully we get that chance in 2010.

After all this time Mike Rogers has finally done something (4.00 / 3)
dumb enough to attract national attention.  I do hope it is enough to get some national support for his opposition next year.  Run Josh, run.

Quick! (4.00 / 2)
Someone get Mike Rodgers a big old block of chedder cheese to go with his WHINE.

You guys are killing me. A guy expresses his opinion about someone as "crazy" and "mean as a snake" and you think he did something wrong and should apologize?

Are we talking about grown adults or schoolyard kids?

Where was your rush to condemn Pelosi when she called Bush a total failure? I mean after all, we are just talking about opinions here that should be apologized for. Nah, Bush is a big boy and he can take the hits and insults.

Nothing like a bunch of liberals getting upset and trying to suppress someone's first amendment  right all because that person called your hero something you don't agree with.

Please do me a favor and try and get passed the schoolyard tactics of "I'm telling on you!!!"

Objectively (0.00 / 0)

George Bush was a total failure.  The worst terrorist attack on American soil -- on Bush's watch.  The economy collapsed -- on Bush's watch.  Both the national debt and deficit ballooned to unprecedented levels -- on Bush's watch.  Respect for America dropped around the world -- on Bush's watch.  Failure for sure.

Rogers called the Speaker of the House "crazy."  That's a callous, thoughtless insult, and obviously untrue.  He also called her "Tom Delay in a skirt" and we've established she doesn't have much in common with Tom Delay -- certainly not the corruption.

Mike Rogers' comments are unworthy of a Congressman and you cheapen yourself by defending them.

Laughter Continues (2.00 / 1)

I'm not defending him. I couldn't care less about Mike Rogers or any other GOP member that has drawn your liberal ire.

The funny part: Mike Rogers whining about being in the minority and calling Pelosi crazy.

The even funnier part: You liberals whining that Mike Rogers is whining and should recant his statements.

See why I'm laughing? I'm defending his right to free speech, I don't care what he says. Nor do I care that Pelosi insults Bush, or who insults who. I care about getting things done.

Mike Rogers is just some joke of a politician and you guys cheapen yourselves by giving him a whole diary entry devoted to him.

Jarrod, you're funny (4.00 / 2)

No one here is challenging Mike Rogers' right to free speech.  Criticizing what he says is a long, long way from sending the authorities to throw him in jail for it.

Personally, I'd challenge either his common sense or his veracity -- or maybe both.  If Speaker Pelosi really is the all-powerful evil (and crazy!) he claims, trashing her in a public forum is on par with poking a hornet's nest with a stick.  Or maybe pissing off Bruce Banner.  If she's not, then he's lying to throw red meat to his ever-shrinking base, and making sure that he has no seat at the table when the grown-ups get together to make decisions.

And if your comments are going to be variations on a theme of "don't get your panties in a wad over it", why waste your time here?  I'm sure you have better things to do.

BTW is it "Dying" or "Dieing"?

Quick!  Someone get jarrod some Dramamine for this spin.

LOL (0.00 / 1)

Never claimed to be an excellent speller and you would be a fine one to call someone out over misspellings :-) We all know that everyone here at LiA has a perfect track record with grammar and spelling, especially you Redeye.

As far as the "spin" is concerned, no spin to it. You guys are a bunch of hypocrites as you stand idly by and let your democratic Congressmen and women that you support insult people you don't support.

May I remind you of John Murtha calling his constituency a bunch of rednecks and racists. We all know thats fitting for a congress person, am I right?

Jarrod, you must be a Rogers supporter. (4.00 / 3)
Rogers has freedom of speech. There are some who disagree with what he says. Since we all have freedom of speech, we can even be critical of statements made by Rogers. I see no hypocrisy in people calling it the way they see it. Pretending you are not a Rogers supporter and attacking those on the blog personally is hypocritical.

jarrod, (4.00 / 3)

You come to a progressive blog and whine about democratic Congressmen and women insulting republicans and you call us a bunch of hypocrites?  LOL!

Whatever helps you guys sleep at night. (0.00 / 0)

Apparently you missed my comment: "Mike Rogers is just some joke of a politician"

Anywho, the one advantage I have over you guys is I don't have the Bush derangement syndrome. Let me give you an example.

If I ever want to get something said and not get a response to it, all I have to do is mention something slightly favorable about Bush. It puts you guys into tunnel vision and thats all you can think about.

I'm not really sure if you guys will ever get it actually. I can't stand the republican party, I can't stand the democratic party. I can't stand the politics of Washington. And maybe... just maybe one day I'll get bitter enough to do something about it.

Oh, and I do so love getting my 0 ratings from Redeye.

What zero rating from Redeye? (4.00 / 1)

I didn't give you a zero rating. You must have me confused with someone else.  Apology accepted.

Jarrod, it is the second time I ever gave anyone a 0. (4.00 / 2)
I welcome dissent and good discussion. I feel your attitude became inappropriate. We all disagree on many issues; we generally, however, do not insult each other. Redeye was being kind. I get tired of repeated attacks. Get off the fence and try to change what is happening in the world. Don't come here to insult, come here to discuss.
