Alabama House District 6: Jenny Askins to Run

Jenny Askins, currently serving on the Madison County Board of Registrars, qualified Wednesday to run for the open seat in House District 6. The Huntsville Times reports that Ed Sasan has also qualified to run as a Democrat in the May 26 Special Primary.

This video is from the Madison County Democratic Women's meeting yesterday. Jenny talked about why she is running for office, her position on Constitutional Reform (let the people vote) and the need to act as a representative of the district, no matter what her personal opinion on a particular topic. Stephen Black was the speaker and, as you will see, he had some very kind words about Ms. Askins' candidacy.

My apologies for the high level of background noise on this video -- it was shot in a very open, noisy area.)

we know about male candidates who have “trophy wives” who help them win elections with their beauty and charm, but Ms. Askins seems to be a “trophy” all on her own. :-)

3 Democrats running in HD6 (0.00 / 0)

This is according to Patricia McCarter of the Huntsville Times -- but it's local so maybe she got it right.

Democratic candidates are:

Jenny Rhodes Askins, 39, voter registrar for the past 14 years. She lives in Toney and studied psychology at Athens State University. She and her husband, Jim, have three children.
Ed Sasan, 43, Madison police officer and retired Army. He lives in Harvest, and he and wife, Sylvia, have three children. He serves as the resource officer for Madison elementary schools.
Shawn Terry, 34, Monrovia Volunteer Fire Department chief. He began volunteering in that agency when he was 13. He is also a part owner in Tip Top Roofing. He lives in Huntsville.
