Image by Tigana, posted with permission under fair use. Last Thursday, peace activist Cindy Sheehan visited Montgomery, Alabama. Following the press conference she was confronted by a young man and the argument was caught on video by WSFA. Just another Iraq war supporter who saw a peace protest and felt he had to speak up for George Bush's war, right? What WSFA didn't tell us (didn't check, apparently) and what this Vietnam vet was able to find out, is that the young man in the video is the Secretary of the Montgomery County Republican Club.  Someone has to ask, if Chris Vucovich, age 31 and apparently reasonably healthy, is such a supporter of "staying the course" in Iraq, and so concerned about the Iraqi people, why hasn't he signed up to put on a uniform? Maybe he hasn't heard of Operation Yellow Elephant?
This war was instigated by Republicans like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz, all of whom went to great lengths to avoid military service in their youth and now have no qualms sending other people's children to fight and die protecting oil interests in Iraq. Mr. Vucovich sounds like another Republican in the Bush/Cheney mold. God help us all. |
