I cannot see this too many times.

What's on your mind?

There is a longer version also on Youtube but it's not embeddable (4.00 / 2)

Also, this version has the dancers.

It's almost as good as Elvis on Mars.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.
- John Adams

Brings a tear to my eye, it's so beautiful. (4.00 / 1)

Thank you, h o c.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Note the Solid Gold Red Army Singers, some of them, kind of gettin' their grove on, kind of, sort of, "dancing", well, tryin'.

Mars does, indeed, need guitars.  You readin' this, Dr. W?

Indeed! (4.00 / 1)
Thank you, Herding.  I had never "herd" of this group before today and ...what a hoot!

Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten. Cree Nation Tribal Prophecy

Well, the Red Army Chorus was "tryin" on Sweet Home Alabama (4.00 / 1)

But when they segued into the Volga Boatmen, they were rockin!

"Some folks like icin', some folks like cake.  Some swim in the ocean, some paddle in a lake...Well you can get into Beethoven, or groove on Jimmy Reed...Just keep it simple, stupid, that's all you really need..."  - The Prophet Jimmy Buffet, blessings upon him.

Two Videos Come to Mind (4.00 / 3)

I like the Kid Rock song,"All Summer Long" that combines "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Werewolves of London". His lyrics makes "Sweet Home Alabama" even more of an icon of the 70s, IMHO.

The Other is... (4.00 / 2)

... a band you've probably never heard of unless you've ever watched "South Park". The hair remined me of the plastic cowboy hats in one of Primus' early songs, "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver". You can find the video on YouTube but imbedding is disabled for this song. I don't really know why unless Primus asked them not to allow imbedding of their songs. I also tried another of my Primus favorites, "My Name is Mudd" and it was the same. Check them out if you're interested. Their music probably wouldn't appeal to some (it's not vulgar) but I like music that "different".

~I'm outta here!!!

BTW (4.00 / 2)
The "You Suck" that many radio celebrities, such as Fish, use as greetings or being cordial originated with "Primus". Primus' catch phrase was "Primus Sucks".

I'm drinking from a fire hose here! (4.00 / 1)
So much cultural enlightenment on one thread...and that's a good thing.

Thank you, sir! (4.00 / 1)

That was great!

You know, after all these years, I never did notice how the beat and the key of Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves of London go together - they could almost be done as counterpoint.

I think of UAH Chargers hockey whenever I hear it.  That song used to be a staple at home games.

Work harder and work smarter!

And meanwhile, on the Beeb ... (0.00 / 0)

South Ossetia notwithstanding, it’s hard to feel threatened by a “great power” that can produce this video ... with so little irony.
