AL-02: Republican Race Turns Ugly Over Taxes

Danny at the Political Parlor linked to these new ads from AL-02 rivals Harri Anne Smith and Jay Love.  They leave no doubt that both are conservative Christians -- next ad they'll probably have crucifix lapel pins -- and taxes, the ultimate evil, are all they care about.

Harri Anne's ad:

Jay Love's ad:

I particularly like the "Nasty, negative attacks -- it's wrong!"

Pot, meet kettle.

Wow. What pretty people. (4.00 / 1)

You'd think that with as much money she's put in to her campaign, she could have gotten more attractive peeps for her ad. thats just wrong, harri anne.

 she's toast, let's face it.

the truth shall set you free

If I were a Republican voter (4.00 / 1)
in their district, I'd stay home the day of the runoff, or write in "none of the above" They are pathetic.

A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

If I were a GOP Voter in America (4.00 / 1)

I'd stay home or write in "none of the above".  The Republicans had their chance and they blew it big time.  Our own resident right winger Brian my have unwittingly given us a glimpse into their mindset.

Politicians (of either party) rarely thrust themselves into contentious issues outside of their scope of responsibility for one simple reason: they have nothing to gain.  They only stand to alienate blocs of voters.

I love how he threw the "of either party" into to the mix.  The right wing loves to use the "they did it too" defense to justify their actions.  But I will agree that politicians can't be trusted to do the right thing.  Political expediency trumps taxpayers interest each and everytime.

It's time for a change.

The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dreams shall never die.~Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D. MA)

Folks like you are part of that change. (0.00 / 0)

Somebody has to hold the electeds' feet to the fire, to force them to do the right thing instead of the expedient thing.

Right wingers haven't done a good job of that while their party has been in control.  I hope the left does better.  Honestly, I'm encouraged by the grief Obama has been getting over telecom amnesty.  However that turns out, he and his advisors know that a ton of people are watching, are smart on the issue and really care about it.

Government works best when they're afraid of the people.

Work harder and work smarter!
