I thought to move to Canada, even with its current conservative government it's more humane and pacific than the States. Thought, no. A variant of an old joke, I move to Canada from the States, it lowers the IQ of both countries.
Twice in my life I believed a presidential election presented a danger to life, limb, branches of governance, and the American way of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness - and sanity.
The first time I was wrong. I opposed McGovern.
This time I am right. Mr Romney presents himself as the front man for the ideological and some of the biological descendants of the robber barons. They wish a labor force hungry for low paying jobs. The middle class existence counters the corporate power, much in the way the rise of the middle class in medieval Europe threatened the nobility. They figure that foreign markets will sustain and enrich; the American labor can exist as low wagers in the way that laborers in the third world.
The corporate handlers act in a meaner way than the racists, though they may feel an attitudinal kinship with racists.
Election of 2008 caught many racist white folk, especially in the south, moreso even in Alabama, off guard.
They didn't believe the nigger would win.
I figure some stayed home.
They vowed that wouldn't happen again, thus the modern Republican Party, no moderates or conservatives in control, vowed from day one the Nigger would not return to the White House. They have the assent of a majority of Alabamans.
I talk to folk as I move around hereabouts, listen to some veiled, some not so veiled, racist bull dung. Yet see some crazy contradictions with these local folk.
Some Alabamans - I dont have a statistically fair sample, I confess - root for black players on the State flagship universities.
Worse they root for black players on pro teams; they root for millionaires whose field performance does not really enhance Alabaman's lives, save as not necessary entertainment.
They root for folk who they'd not mix with in daily lives.
Yet they will not vote for a star President, a man who has made their lives better, and will continue to do so.
They should.
They can remain racists, and they can remain racists and still vote for President Obama. They dont have to live with the nigger, like the nigger, to continue to benefit from his intelligent and humane governance.
These Alabama racists should use the nigger in the Whitey House; he contributes to their lives in real ways, not entertainment.
Racists you vote for President Obama. He has done more for you than the black millionaires on the courts and fields of pro sports.
