Jeffy Was On Television ...

Fox News, of course.  And what was our junior Senator doing in this incredibly softball interview with the nice Fox anchorlady?  Making up excuses for why Republicans voted against tax cuts for the middle class.

Sessions seemed to be suffering from the same memory lapse as his fellow Sen. Kelly Ayotte, who tried blaming the cuts to military spending as part of the sequestration plan, when Republicans are the ones who insisted we make the defense cuts rather than raise taxes.

Sessions followed that by pretending that spending on food stamps is not stimulative to the economy (which is utterly false) and attacking those who are dependent on our social safety nets during this horrible economy that his party is primarily responsible for creating. It's kind of tough pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps when there are no jobs to be found, or very few due to the fact that the economy has not recovered and the fact that Republicans have been doing everything within their power to make sure it stays that way.

Sessions is essentially lecturing people to pull themselves up by their bootstraps ... when they don't even have boots.

If you watch the video at the link above, pay attention at about 2:40 when Jeffy literally salivates at what a powerful position he'll be in if Republicans take control of the Senate.  Then go contribute to some of the Democrats in key Senate races ... Bill Nelson in Florida, Elizabeth Warren in Mass., Claire McCaskill in Missouri, Jon Tester in Montana, Tim Kaine in Virginia, Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota, Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Sherrod Brown in Ohio or Shelley Berkely in Nevada ... to make sure Republicans don't take control of the Senate.

Another one of our great Senatorial Candidates (4.00 / 1)

is Richard Carmona -- Bush's Surgeon General, someone who worked simultaneously as deputy sherrif and surgeon, a Puerto Rucan Street Kid from NYC who got his GED in Vietnam -- and a Progressive, not a Blue Dog.  Get to know him.

And I hate to say it, but despite all their teeth-grinding flaws, we still should shudder and support Joe Donnelly in Indiana (who would have lost to Lugar, but has a shot against Mourdock) and even Bob Kerrey in Nebraska.  (Another lucky opponent -- the top two competitors cancelled each other out and the winner was a virtual unknown, Deb Fischer -- who was endorsed by the Baroness Munchhausen, ex-governor of Alaska.)

Thank you for adding to my list of Senate candidates to support (0.00 / 0)

I looked up Richard Carmona's website -- he is definitely a breath of fresh air from the ultra-red state of Arizona.  Wow!  This guy is no conservaDem, for sure.

Right now, we should be supporting every Democrat running in a close Senate race.  I know we are all frustrated by Blue Dogs and spineless Dems (Ben Nelson & friends) when they cave to Republican demands, but if we don't have 51 Dems in the Senate come January, Jeffy Sessions and probably Richard Shelby will be heading up key committees in the next session.  That's a heck of a lot worse than just losing 2 or 3 conservaDems on close votes.  It will mean that Sessions and Shelby are deciding what legislation gets to the floor as well as what's in that legislation.  We don't want that.  America can't afford to move that far backwards.
