Joe Biden At the NAACP

by: mooncat

Thu Jul 12, 2012 at 22:06:24 PM CDT

This white guy got a very different reaction from the NAACP than Mitt Romney received yesterday.

Remember what this at its core was all about.  Why this organization .... was all about.  It was about the franchise.  It was about the right to vote.  Because when you have the right to vote, you have the right to change things.  And we, the President and I ... we see a future where those rights are expanded, not diminished.  Where racial profiling is a thing of the past.  Where access to the ballot is expanded and not encumbered.  Where there are no distinctions made on the basis of race or gender on access to housing and lending.  And so much more ...

OK, to be fair, the NAACP crowd did boo at one point in Joe Biden's speech -- when he said he was closing.

You can watch Biden's entire speech here.  It's 30 minutes, but it's a good 30 minutes.

He was great yesterday! (4.00 / 1)
That speech got me fired up.  You got the feeling that VP Biden actually meant what he was saying and felt it.  Gov. Romney always comes off like he's reading lines and wishing he were out on his yacht.....

Thanks for posting

Biden, NAACP, election, Obama (4.00 / 1)

Awesome speech!  We need to inform every apathetic person we know what a Mitt Romney vote really means and

> that deciding to not vote because you are disgusted is a vote for Mitt Romney.

> that other than their vote (or them staying home and not voting against him) Romney cares about their welfare even less than he cared about the dog that he tied to the roof of his car! (BTW Tying a family dog to the roof of his cars says volumes about his character and compassion)

> Unless, of course, you make over $250,000 which is why the Republican Superpacs have so much money

I had to chuckle at Joe getting boos for saying he was ending his speech (0.00 / 0)

Back in 1988, at the Democratic National Convention, Bill Clinton got applause when he said "in conclusion" at the end of his hour-long speech.

I'm as big a fan of the Big Dog as anybody, but he does tend to run on.  At the time, the pundits said he had blown his chance at national politics with that speech.

Not for the last time, the pundits were wrong about Bill Clinton.

Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passion, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.
