| Yes campers, elections have consequences - and one of the most important things to come out of the 2008 election was increased respect for diversity. Which, not coincidentally, is one of the things the TEA Party/former Dixiecrat wing of the GOP hates the most about President Obama. The odious "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" rule fell in 2010 and yesterday we enjoyed the amazing spectacle of the Department of Defense celebrating Gay Pride Month. Has Hell truly frozen over? Not in this heat..... The Defense Department will host a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month event on June 26, 2012, from 1-2 p.m. EDT in the Pentagon Auditorium, Room BH650. Defense Department General Counsel Jeh Johnson will be the keynote speaker. Johnson will be followed by a moderated panel discussion entitled, “The Value of Open Service and Diversity.”
Count among the outraged those who consider the ability of committed same-sex couples to enter into legal, loving, committed relationships to be a greater danger to the "holy" institution of marriage than, say, Newt Gringrich's serial adultery, Britney Spears & Jason Alexander's 55-hour marriage, or Rush Limbaugh's 4 wives. Remember the old proverb: "The dogs bark, but the caravan passes on." While the Dark Age dogs bark in outrage, the rest of us can merely smile and say: "About damn time."
