The Obamas hosted a concert at the White House last night to celebrate Black History Month. The all-star lineup included Buddy Guy, Mick Jagger, B.B. King - and President Obama on vocals. He was unable to resist the appeals of the musicians during a terrific rendition of "Sweet Home Chicago" and joined in on a few lines.
Here's the video:
This reminds me of the Inauguration party I attended in 2009. We celebrated and watched TV coverage of the various Inaugural balls. As we "oohd and aahed" over the Obama's romantic dance to Beyonce's rendition of "At Last," one of the guests (who is generally quite the curmudgeon) made this comment:
"They make you feel happy just looking at them."
Watching this clip from last nights White House event, I have to agree. It just made me smile.
The entire concert will be shown on PBS next Monday night (Feb. 27).
