| Today in Steubenville, Ohio, GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum showed just how out of touch with reality he is: Santorum told voters in eastern Ohio on Monday that science is on the side of those who want to aggressively produce more oil and natural gas in America. He said the notion of global warming is not climate science but "political science." If that were actually true, what was Joseph Fourier's political agenda when he discovered the greenhouse effect, way back in the 1820s? Or where is Fourier's science flawed? Answer: Rick Santorum is grasping at straws. Greenhouse gas molecules absorb heat that rises from the earth's surface. When those molecules collide with each other, the heat is released. (in all directions, including down) If this was not true, mankind never would have existed. The natural levels of greenhouse gasses allows life to exist on earth. Since Santorum was too chicken to elaborate on his idiotic stance, I can only assume he wants people to believe it doesn't matter what the level/volume/quantity of greenhouse gasses are. (one molecule is the same as trillions upon trillions and even more trillions) As if the earth has an atmosphere with no boundary that spans throughout the entire universe. But the truth is: More greenhouse gasses means more heat returning to the earths surface. The insanity from Santorum continued: Santorum said Obama and his allies want to frighten people about new oil-exploration technologies so they can get your dollars and turn it over to politicians to win elections "so they can control your lives." It's not Obama frightening people. What's frightening are the more pronounced tornado outbreaks, floods and droughts along with more diseases that have emerged in concert with the consistent rise in the world temperature (forensic evidence) and knowing there is someone like Santorum, running for president, that's doing everything imaginable to make the situation worse. I truly wish Santorum was right and that we could burn all the oil & coal we want with no concerns of safety. Maybe that's how it works on whatever planet Santorum is from, but not here. |
