This Week In Republican Crazy. And It's Only Tuesday.

Holy Cow.  So far this week, we've seen a Catholic food bank refuse donations from Planned Parenthood, Rick Santorum's spokeswoman criticized President Obama's "radical Islamic" policies, and a Republican Indiana legislator is condemning the Girl Scouts.

Stay tuned, campers... we have the first GOP debate in a month scheduled in Arizona on Wednesday night! In the meantime, dip a finger into the "shallow end of the gene pool" but be sure to wash it (with Clorox) afterwards!

If this song makes you think of Madison County Commission candidate, Wayne Parker, well.... welcome to the club.

Santorum Spokesperson:  "Rick Was Referring To Obama's Radical Islamic Policies"

Yesterday, Republican frontrunner Rick Santorum said the president subscribes to a "phony theology." His spokeswoman Alice Stewart took to MSNBC today to clarify: Santorum was referring to Obama's "radical Islamic policies." She herself later called MSNBC to clarify her clarification: she mean to say "radical environmental policies." It's a common mistake — haven't we all mistakenly called it the Islamic Protection Agency?

So environmenal protection is a religion?  Is she saying that President Obama is a druid?

Catholic food pantry turns down Planned Parenthood food donations:

As part of its Martin Luther King food drive, Planned Parenthood collected 50 pounds of food. It hoped to donate the food to Paul's Pantry.

“What was told to me was that they simply said we do not want any food donations from you period,” said Lisa Boyce, a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.

Remember that famous line from Scripture:  "I was hungry and you couldn't feed me because the only donor last week supported birth control."

Indiana lawmaker denounces the Girl Scouts as a "radicalized organization."

A lawmaker has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he will not support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a "radicalized organization" that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.

Former GOP frontrunner Herman Cain thinks half of America's voters are stupid:

The former GOP presidential hopeful, campaigning on behalf of former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), told a crowd at Collins Hill High School here that when it came to voters, “50 percent of the American people do fall in the category of either stupid or ignorant as to what’s going on in this country.”
[...]
“Some people don’t like me because I tell the truth like it is,” Cain said. “Those of us who are informed outnumber the stupid people, but not if we stay home.”

Ok... I admit to being math-impaired... but if 50% is "stupid" how do the "informed" outnumber them?

The Santorum camp needs to look in the mirror (4.00 / 2)
It's the GOP that has insane environmental policies. Come to think of it, the GOP also has an insane mindset when it comes to foreign policy. (most notably, their constant push to start a war with all of Islam)

The 2011 surface temperatures (World Temperature) was 0.51°C (0.92°F) above the 20th century average. This marks the 35th consecutive year, since 1976, that the yearly global temperature was above average. - N.O.A.A.

I will not support a proclamation honoring the Indiana House, (4.00 / 2)

because it supports insanity and promotes delusional behavior. Come to think of it... I will not support any Republicans for the aforementioned reasons.

Girl Scouts (4.00 / 2)

Hey, I was a Brownie for about two or three years.  Did I miss the camping trip to Lesbos San Fran?  Is that only for Juniors?  I remember making butter and selling cookies and pledging to "serve God and my Country."  I know that's some of that radical leftist stuff.

Girl Scouts are radical? (4.00 / 1)

But so far no condemnation of Boy Scouts?  I guess the radical comes in through offering opportunities for GIRLS.  After all, Republicans are the party of barefoot, pregnant and uneducated.

Southern Liberal Man writes today that Rick Santorum has elevated the war against women to the Crusade Against Women ... my only quibble is that it's shortsighted to restrict Santorum's crusade to women's issues. IMHO Rick Santorum is on a crusade to make America a Catholic nation, subject to Catholic laws instead of secular ones.  Get the government out of schools, but into your bedrooms and doctor's offices.  We already know his stance on birth control, what about divorce?

Santorum is not running for President, he's running for Pope.  Will the conservatives who have their drawers in a wad over Sharia law (looking at you, Cam Ward) recoil from Santorum's crusade or back him to the hilt?

Work harder and work smarter!

Santorum--A better Catholic than the Pope (0.00 / 0)

One of the things that should be hammered home to REAL Catholics is that the OFFICIAL stance of the Roman Catholic Church is that global warming IS a threat to humans.  Compare that to Mr Frothy Mixture who (like all the other GOPers running for President and most likely every other elected office) feels that global warming is just some type of hoax.

It's funny how *conservative* Catholics decry the idea of "cafeteria Catholicism" (whereby the adherent makes his/her own decision on what doctrine is correct and which is incorrect) when LIBERAL Catholics want to support policies that the Vatican officially opposes (such as birth control, condoms being used in the war against HIV/AIDS, LGBT rights, women priests, etc) but when the Church advocates policies that American Conservatives oppose (death penalty, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, arms control), suddenly they become concerned that a "foreign government" is attempting to interfere with America's national interests.  There's another word for it, though--one that conservatives have become expert at--hypocrisy.

What a great metaphor for today's GOP!
