organizing for america (4.00 / 3)

this organization is the successor organization to obama for america. it's worth supporting. we liberal democrats have endured a lot of disappointments because we're in a political world where you have to take what you can get (no single payer) aND TRY TO LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. but workng through an organization like this helps.

These folks are working across the state (4.00 / 2)

From what I hear, their emphasis is on field organizing and voter registration.  That's basic stuff that hasn't always been done well or in a coordinated fashion by the various campaigns here in Alabama, so it's going to be really valuable to have OFA working all over the state. 

And the other thing, because this is an Obama-type organization, the people involved are really dedicated, excited and committed to making positive change.  Fun to work with, in other words.

This is a good group of folks and, while they're definitely affiliated with the Democratic party, they aren't necessarily like the traditional Democratic party, if you know what I mean.

Tell me what you mean by a good group of folks and the traditional democratic party so I won't have to speculate and I can determine if I fit in with them.

OFA tends to be younger, more welcoming to new people (4.00 / 2)

They're looking for enthusiastic folks who are willing to work -- any color, any orientation, pretty much anything -- and who you know isn't a big issue because it's a very new organization.

My intent was not to cast aspersions on either organization, but I know some here have had issues with the ADP in the past.  If so, please try OFA because they're new, they're looking for help and they're out there working to elect Democrats -- and maybe people who didn't find the ADP a good fit will find a home with OFA.  It's a different manifestation of the same team.
