Talking about Parker Griffith on the Dale Jackson Show

by: mooncat

Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 23:28:40 PM CST

Yes, Dale Jackson and I may be able to find common ground in the political arena, thanks to Parker Griffith's switcheroo.  His show airs on WVNN, 770AM/92.5 FM in the Huntsville/Athens area -- or you can listen online at this link.  We'll probably be talking around 7:30 to 8:00 6 am Wednesday morning, but I suspect a lot of his show will be devoted to Griffith.

$ick-O? (4.00 / 3)
I'm with Herding Cats, we saw this coming with our former friend's vote against the Lily Ledbetter legislation which passed because it was the right thing to do.  Embarrassed by the Boeing dilemma, health reform hits him in the personal pocket because healthier people live longer which hopefully will cause a decrease in business to his string of funeral and nursing homes.  Parker, you're a phony.  Give Gayla her money back.

Thank you, thank you! (4.00 / 2)

Does this mean you and radio boy are going to kiss and make up (0.00 / 0)

and you're going to un-ban him since you may have found "common ground"? :)  Sorry but I can't bring myself to listen to hate radio even if you are a guest.  Good luck.

LOL! (0.00 / 0)

Dale and I were close until you banned him. :)

Seriously, I can't forget radio boy's behavior on this blog, his show and his blog in relation to the LiA crowd or as he calls us idiots, morons and left behind in Alabama and various other insults.  I also can't forget his vicious attack on State Representative Laura Hall or his voter suppression with the state seal of approval.  But that's just me.

Why isn't there an alternative to radio boy?  Why isn't there a progressive talk news station in north Alabama to counter the spin, lies and misinformation that is disseminated on the public airways?  And we wonder why democrats have become toxic in north Alabama?  I'm just saying.

Why isn't there ... ? (0.00 / 0)

Because you haven't done it.  I haven't done it.  No one has done it.  It takes a hell of a lot of work, initiative, commitment, etc.  No progressive has found the way and made it happen yet.  There is plenty of room to shine here, but no one has done it yet.

In other words, no progressive infrastructure.

I'm not getting it. (4.00 / 2)
.
Duplicitous, craven, lying scum who suck-up to the likes of the Insurance Behemoths and other hyper-wealthy scum to the detriment of regular, middle-class people who are just trying to make ends meet -- why wouldn't Chip and the GOP welcome the likes of Griffith?

What am I missing here?

Dale Jackson is not pleased that the GOP is welcoming Griffith ... (4.00 / 2)

As though they never attacked him as essentially a murderer of cancer patients.  At one point before I called in Dale complained that it's like saying "Come to the Republican party and all will be forgiven."

Sad but true, that's the way political insiders think, but it isn't the way we (activists) think.  We believe policy and principles matter; these other folks just want to win elections.  They want to get their numbers up in Congress and if the Alabama Republican Party needs Democratic retreads to do that in the 5th district, I don't think that bothers them at all.  They fielded a weak candidate (Wayne Parker) in 2008 and the 2010 field doesn't look strong either -- Brooks has managed to parlay a seat in the legislature into a seat on the county commission and Philip is a relative unknown whose most significant campaign activity so far is losing money on a big fundraiser.  Not a hopeful outlook for taking the seat in 2010 -- so they cut a deal with Griffith.  Principles?  Who needs them.  This is all about trying to put AL-05 in the R column through the power of incumbency.

I think it will be hilarious to watch the NRCC defend a guy they attacked so viciously just last year.  How much will they spend to hold onto this seat -- word is the DCCC is willing to step up to the plate to get this seat back in the D column -- and which Republicans in other districts will see their funding pulled so the NRCC can defend Griffith's seat?  And yes, Griffith will suck the oxygen out of Brooks' and Philip's fundraising efforts.  It's no wonder Dale Jackson is ticked about this deal -- it's a real killer if you're a movement conservative.  Griffith doesn't believe the base matters and a great many party insiders on both sides feel the same way.  It's going to be very interesting to see if they're right in AL-05 because both the Republican and Democratic bases are feeling used and abused right now.  The outcome might possibly be a real contest of ideas between a genuine conservative Republican and a genuine progressive Democrat -- if activists on both sides get fired up and take their parties back.

Jackson had a parting gift for me, apparently by way of opposition research:

  • adultery
  • wife swap
  • best friends
  • congressional aid

The first three are well known, very old news and I was surprised the Republicans didn't try and make something out of it last year.  The last one is intriguing and something I haven't heard mentioned before ... looking forward to the ads in the upcoming Republican primary.

Wife swap??? (4.00 / 2)

Obviously I'm not in on the North Alabama gossip, but that sounds like a reality show.

Kudos for braving Dale Jackson.  I'll be keeping an eye out, but my money says if Griffith manages to get the R nomination, Jackson will support him.  In Republican-world, a backstabbing liar always trumps a good Democrat.

It will be fun to see what happen if Griffith wins the R primary (4.00 / 1)

Of course, they're still in denial ... convinced that he stands no chance.

Helloooo?  The national and state Republican Party mucky-mucks are "welcoming him with open arms" precisely because they realize that, as an incumbent, he's a stronger candidate than either of the local guys already in the race.  He's also a weathervane, but the party insiders don't mind that at all.  They get their little PR victory, a better shot at a winner in November and to hell with the grassroots and what they want.

Been there, done that, feel their pain.

Re: wife swap (4.00 / 2)
That's a really old episode and the one most of Parker's Democratic friends really worried the Republicans would use against him last year.  They didn't, possibly because it was a very long time ago and, as I heard it, most everyone involved got divorced and amicably remarried to someone else.  And he's been happily married ever since, as far as I've heard.

"Youthful indescretion". (4.00 / 2)
.
See, here's the thing:  our moral core is pretty much fixed by the time we enter young adulthood.  Just because someone "only" wife-swapped in their 20s or 30s doesn't mean that by the time they're in their 50s or 60s they're all angelic.  No, they're just a disgusting and principle-less older person rather than a disgusting and principle-less younger person.  Perhaps they're not doing the same sick, conscienceless things, but if they have the proclivity for abominable acts, then they'll just perpetrate whatever act is most convenient or enticing to them, whether it's being a "young swinger" or an "old rapacious bastard".

We lost Ben because the democratic party didn't stand up for him.  Ben was accused of soliciting a prostitute.  Just because you are accused of something doesn't mean you're guilty.  Ask Troy King.

on Jackson’s show. Even I took time to listen.

ABOUT GRIFFITH: I guess if any state is thought to have more crooked politicians than Alabama it must be Louisiana, where Griffith was born and spent nearly the first half of his life, so nothing he does should be surprising.

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge...."      Hosea 4:6

This is the last thing I'm going to say about Parker Griffith (4.00 / 1)
And it's an apology to someone who tried to tell me Parker Griffith couldn't and shouldn't be trusted when he ran for Mayor of Huntaville.  JC, I don't know if you read this blog, but if you do, you were right and I should have listened to you.  I'm sorry I didn't trust your judgement and your knowledge.  I'm sorry I thought you were just hating on Parker Griffith.  I should have known better because I know you.  In case JC doesn't read LiA I'm going to give them a call and eat crow in person.
