Yo! All you Obama voters in House Congressional District 7

by: Redeye

Fri Nov 06, 2009 at 23:11:08 PM CST

Your Congressman needs to hear from you.   Your Congressman disagrees with the affordable health care for America Act put forth by President Obama.  Call, email, fax or write your Congressman and ask him what part of the affordable health care for America Act does he have a problem with?  Ask him can he afford his government run health care?  Ask him does he know how many Americans will die because they don't have access to health insurance?

If you live in Chocktaw, Hale, Marengo, Dallas, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Clark, Green, Jefferson, Sumter or Wilcox counties you need to contact your Congressman ASAP.  Your access to health care depends on him.  All of our access to healthcare depends on him, so even though I don't live in his district I'm going to contact him too.  Be nice.  Lets see if we can attract some flies with honey :).

 If you're not sure of what to say or write try this (h/t g&lw);

Dear Congressman Davis,

The United States is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not have a comprehensive program to provide adequate health care for all of its citizens. The Declaration of Rights of the Declaration of Independence clearly states that there are certain inalienable rights for all Americans:  life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Clearly the present medical programs in the U.S. do not support these rights. I urge you to pass a quality, affordable health coverage act. Sincerely,

Psst!  Your Congressman is running for Governor in 2008 and he might need your vote.

Do something!

How the heck can Congressman and Alabama Gubernatorial candidate Artur Davis vote against the affordable health care for America act when the district he represents has the majority of the citizens who can't afford quality health care?

How the heck can Congressman and Alabama Gubernatorial candidate vote against President Obama and his agenda when the majority of the people he represents voted for President Obama with HOPE for CHANGE they can believe in?

Listen up you three Bamas(Davis, Bright and Griffith), the 811,764, I repeat, the 811,764 of us who voted for President Obama on November 4, 2008 WON.   We WON the right (pun intended) to have affordable health care.  Although the majority of Alabama voters care more about keeping black folks in their place (dumb and poor), keeping gay folks from getting married, keeping women from choosing to have a safe, legal abortion, and sending them there illegals that don't work for them back to Mexico,  those of us who care more about having access to health care, jobs, education, choice, human rights and civil rights WON.

These are not red states or blue states.  This is the UNITED States of AMERICA.  The majority RULES.  Remember?

The majority of Americans voted FOR affordable health care.

Pro life my Donkey.

More Alabama Pandering Politics.... (4.00 / 1)
That's all it is.

The smartest thing for a Democrat would be to vote for it and get it done, because it's going to be a "damned if you do or don't" situation.

Just because you vote against it, you think the Repubs are going to let up on you? And if something doesn't pass, the Repubs are going to say "they had the majority and couldn't do anything."

So vote for reform and stand tall, people will respect you for that.

I'm so sick of the political pandering to a hand full of loud-mouthed yahoos that goes on in the state. Can't somebody have some integrity?

My conversation with Davis aide.... (0.00 / 0)
...his explanation was that Davis did not feel that it was a good bill, period, that more could be done and that was the reason for his hold out.  Then, guy begins to give ALL THE REPUBLICAN TALKING POINTS about how the bill was going to negatively affect small businesses, was going to affect medicare coverage for older citizens, yadda yadda yadda...

I told the guy that it sounded and looked like to me that Davis was ignoring the wishes of his constituents and moving himself to the center to make him more electable in his quest for governor...guy said, well he does have that to think about...

I finally asked how many people do I need to call the offices to get him to change his mind on the bill...guy said, "He's already made up his mind that the bill is not in the best interests of his constituents."

It goes without saying that when I got off the phone I was less than happy...

The aide in Artur Davis's office recited the republican talking points in opposition to the affordable health care reform act??  I'm shocked!  Shocked I tell you!

Yeah and... (0.00 / 0)
when I called the guy out on it I said "Wait a minute, this is the office of the DEMOCRATIC Representative from Alabama, Artur Davis, right?  Because you've just gone through and given me all the same Republican talking points against the bill", guy paused and said "Well, yeah...".  As he uttered that I was doing all I could to mask my frustration and the  fact that I was sitting their screaming to myself "WTF???????" It was 5:30 on Thursday when I called, I imagine that he had probably been sitting there all day getting calls like this...but still...inexcusable...
