Do Congressional Democrats REALLY Think They Can "Compromise" on Health Care With These People?

Fortunately, I missed the live media coverage of the Traveling Teabagger Freak Show "Super Bowl of Freedom" yesterday, but this account of it in the Washington Post is truly choice:GOP Health Care Lies and Craziness

In the front of the protest, a sign showed President Obama in white coat, his face painted to look like the Joker. The sign, visible to the lawmakers as they looked into the cameras, carried a plea to "Stop Obamunism." A few steps farther was the guy holding a sign announcing "Obama takes his orders from the Rothchilds" [sic], accusing Obama of being part of a Jewish plot to introduce the antichrist.

But the best of Bachmann's recruits were a few rows into the crowd, holding aloft a pair of 5-by-8-foot banners proclaiming "National Socialist Healthcare, Dachau, Germany, 1945." Both banners showed close-up photographs of Holocaust victims, many of them children.

Immediately in front of this colorful scenery, various House Republicans signed autographs and shook hands with the demonstrators.

[...]

By the time it was over, medics had administered government-run health care to at least five people in the crowd who were stricken as they denounced government-run health care.

But Bachmann overlooked this irony as she said farewell to her recruits.

How much more of this does Harry Reid need to see?  Has Holy Joe ("I think I'm the most important guy in the Senate") Lieberman been struck blind?

Paging Parker Griffith: too bad you aren't a psychiatrist because some of these people obviously need mental health care. Will you be proud to stand with them and vote against the Democratic bill?  Will Bobby Bright be proud?  How about Artur Davis?

Grow a spine and screw bi-partisanship, Harry!  The Republican goal is to block reform, any reform, at whatever cost, using any method available - and telling outright lies is just the start.

Reconciliation is your friend.  Use it and we'll have your back.  Let yourself get rolled and, well, you saw on Tuesday what happens when Democrats don't excite their base and get them to the polls.

The answer isn't to be faux-Republicans.  It's to be REAL Democrats.  Surely, yesterday's gathering has showed the Democratic leadership and rank and file just how bankrupt the Republican leadership truly is on this issue: that's ethically bankrupt, morally bankrupt, and totally bereft of ideas.  The best they can do is lie and say NO.

The best we can do is to ignore them and pass health insurance reform.

At least the DNC is getting with it: (3.00 / 1)
In response to the RNC's twelve hour online town hall to "explain the democratic health care bill," DNC Press Secretary Hari Sevugan issued the following statement:

"We're planning a twelve second town hall to explain every last detail of the GOP health care plan."

BAM!

Never try to teach a pig to sing.  It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

This is where the President must enter the game and call for Reconciliation... (4.00 / 1)
Its time for him to call in Harry Reed and tell him to put together a bill like what is being put together in the House, and be prepared to pass a bill by Thanksgiving in the Senate, and a bill he can sign by Christmas.  Since Reed doesn't have the rocks to pass a bill by reconciliation, its time for the President to get the job done.  Forget the Republicans, the American people gave them a chance to formulate a bill that was more palatable and they nixed the idea. Now its time to pass a bill that the American people can say "Praise the Lord" about. Its your moment in history Mr. President, we won't be passing this way again, do the right thing and pass a robust health care bill and etch your name along side Lincoln and FDR.  Stand up and do the right thing and reach for the stars Mr. President - your place in history is waiting.

Please don't hold your breath for Griffith to vote for health care reform (4.00 / 2)
Here he is doing some fear-mongering with older folks regarding Medicare cuts, which are about efficiency and reducing fraud and waste. My family just had an experience with home health care paid for through Medicare and it certainly looked like there was considerable waste in that system, if not downright fraud. I say that as a person who passionately believes that an elderly person will do best at home and good home health care ought to be available.  There may be some agencies that do a good, conscientious job, but many of these folks were just interested in getting their sheet signed so they could get paid for the visit. I mean, a nurse who visits a man with pneumonia and breathing difficulty without equipment to check his oxygen level? Why did she even come? Medicare paid some agency for that visit.  Also for the time Daddy had acute breathing problems and the nurse did call 911 -- and left immediately. I arrived before the ambulance and the nurse was long gone, not providing any help or advice even though he was in extreme distress.

Work harder and work smarter!

They're all going to remain the same (0.00 / 0)
Bobby Bright, nope
Parker Griffith, hell no
Artur Davis, crickets, but I've already said a number of times why that is

"It is what it is."

When, by one count, the Dems are only three votes short (0.00 / 0)

of passage, our state's three pseudo-Democrats could very well hold the key. Someone needs to tell Davis that we are not amnesiacs, and will not forget his failure on Health Care, when he asks for our support for Governor.

The other two are useless pieces of garbage, who posed as Dems to get elected and promtly reverted to Republican form.  They will be one term Congress critters and they deserve it thoroughly.  Democrats will not support them again and they certainly will not be reelected by Republicans.

A small group of thoughtful people could change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.

Does anyone know if Obama carried Davis, Bright or Griffiths districts in 08?

Looking at that map, the Davis District... (0.00 / 0)
voted overwhelmingly for Obama.

Makes you wonder who Davis represents.
