For those who want a public option in the healthcare overhaul, make your feelings public.

There is a great campaign in the works thanks to the PCCC (Progressive Change Campaign Committee).  It is for all of us who see a huge disconnect in the public opinions about this option and the legislators who are dragging their feet.  The PCCC is raising funds for an tv ad to run in DC that targets Senators about just this topic. You can also add your name and state to the ad.

I have signed the petition for the public option... (0.00 / 0)

and I have also signed on the "fan page" at Facebook.

We cannot allow the blood-sucking insurance companies to talk this subject to death.  We are victims of a whole industry that makes more money by denying us our needed treatment.

Thanks Melmel (0.00 / 0)
Signed and gave a contribution. Great initiative!

Here is an important and surprising piece on this topic from of all places, The Wall Street Journal! (0.00 / 0)
Check out this op-ed entitled "Why We Need A Public Health Care Plan." Nice to see them giving premium space to this point of view.

For Those Who Have Been Defeated... (0.00 / 0)

... Into agreeing that the "Public Option" is the right way to go, I say, you are a bunch of lilly-livered chicken squats.

The Public Option is nothing more than the Corporate Control getting their way again.

Single Payer, Not-For-Profit Healthcare for all, eliminating health insurance companies totally and forever is the ONLY viable choice. Anything and everything else will bolster helath insurance and will FAIL.

To agree to the "piublic policy" means you are a gullible sheople who, again, will fall in line with what those rich bastards who get their money from the very ones that are fighting this initiative, stopping dead in its tracks the real reform America needs right now..

Aren't you people tired of being ramrodded into failed and bogus systems?

Then stop this "public option" bullshit and stand up, SCREAM IT LOUD:

Single Payer, Not-For-Profit Healthcare for all.

Cheney Care for ALL!

Otherwise, you are not helping, melmel.

I'm sure that in some way this was suppose to make your position clear. (0.00 / 0)
But you are just confusing everyone with your rant.  If you want to have a real conversation then tone down the language. You are screaming so loud no one can understand you.

BuelahMan, please, think this through (0.00 / 0)

Yes, most of us on this blog would vote for single payer, government run health care in a New Yotk minute. Try to follow this part, because it gets technical.  This is a Democratic Republic.  Our President cannot order the nationalization of insurance companies and make it happen.  There are not enough votes in Congress to even discuss the plan you suggest.  The public option is the absolute best general area of coverage thet is politically possible.  It will depend on the details of the plan whether it is a good option or just "better than we have now". But with the public option, there is movement towerd what we really wany, rather than deadlock and inertia.

It has been said that a dictatorship is a speedboat, able to turn on a dime, while a Republic is an ocean liner, needing a lot of space and time to change direction. Please join the conversation, but at a reasonable level.

Someone said recently that the "perfect is the enemy of the good".  Let's get the good for now, and move toward the perfect as we can.

Pardon any ignorance (0.00 / 0)

that I may show, but I am really trying to get ahead of this matter in my head.  Would the relationship exist with a public option and private insurance companies that would be comparable to say, the ail and package business involving the USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc?  If so, I could understand the viability and level playing field of having a public option.  It would seem though that the regulatory side of this would be so much more important in health care and any regulatory agency would seem to favor a government option over a private one, thus not being fair.

My biggest thing is that in no way do I want to be limited in the choices that are available to receive the health care I want to be provided.  Nor do I want to be saddled with paying the share of others who in no way try or want to share any of the cost burden in ways that account for their personal responsibility.  If these two things can be achieved, I definitely want to see the options.

Good work LIA on presenting arguments and material for us to educate ourselves better.
