Did I forget to mention she is a lesbian? Do I think that contributed to the willingness to bury the story? You bet. Do I think that contributed to the DA's only charging him with 2nd degree assault and that he's already out on bond? Yes there, too. (Please sign the petition asking Mobile county DA Ashley Rich to upgrade the charges.) I am shaking: that so could have been my partner some years ago if my brother had not become so angry at my coming out that he will no longer be under the same roof with me. Before we moved to Alabama, she has been a guest at my biological family's Thanksgiving dinner. I can only hope the rest of my relatives would have come to her defense had he actually attacked her. I wish someone had done that for Mallory. I am reading lots of comments calling for this to be prosecuted as a hate crime but there's no such thing in Alabama when it comes to sexual preference (perceived or otherwise) or even gender. * photographs may be disturbing ---- Countrycat's update ------ Here's the photo of the man arrested for this crime. The phrase "banality of evil" comes to mind: Mallory should be released from the hospital today.
Family members say the woman who was severely beaten by her girlfriend's brother on Thanksgiving Day will be released from the hospital today. Mallory Owens, 23, suffered multiple skull fractures and crushed bones after the Nov. 22 attack. Family members say she had metal plates put under her eyes because of her injuries. She also has internal and external injuries.
How is this NOT attetmpted murder???? |
