| Are you looking to return positive leadership -- and sanity -- to Washington? Look no further than Charlie Holley, Democratic candidate in AL-05: "As I travel throughout the 5th District and I speak with different people and they tell me their problems and their concerns, I see them as my own family," Holley said. "I can tell you today they are getting sick and tired of getting ignored and overlooked at belittled by our current Congressman. "They are ready for positive leadership in Washington."
One of the best pieces I've read on Amendment 4. Gerald Johnson says it "violates the state's responsibility to public education" and he provides the historical references to back that statement up. Josh Moon: Religious freedoms not at risk - no need for the outrage. Joey Kennedy on AL-GOP plans to celebrate with gunfire -- and booze: Nobody will ever accuse the Alabama GOP of being a big-tent political party -- and I think that's the way the most Republicans want it.
Paul Krugman reminds us that government works best when it's in the hands of leaders who, well, believe government works. You thought preaching to the Tea Party was as low as he could go? Nope. Artur Davis hit a new low over the weekend, mocking rising sea levels in New York ... because being snarky about climate change, especially when a big storm just killed a bunch of Americans, is a great way for a party-jumper to earn some Republican cred. Also on YouTube, though why anyone would watch is beyond me. On a conference call this afternoon OFA Deputy Campaign Manager Stephanie Cutter said Team Obama is "not taking anything for granted" and will not rest until after the race is called tomorrow. She said they have built a ground game unlike any America has seen, in which volunteers have signed up to work almost 700,000 shifts to get out the vote in the final 4 days of election 2012. This massive effort is not only aimed at persuading voters to support Obama, but also expanding the number of people who vote. It's a game with a vision beyond November 6th; they hope to leave a generation of organizers in the wake of this election, committed to moving America forward, not back. Meanwhile, Republicans are paying as much as $15 an hour for GOTV workers. Koch activists are also flying home-schooled high school kids to swing states to do canvassing: It’s “terrific government education,” Farris added. “You can’t get this kind of education in public schools.”
No word on whether the kids are getting $15 an hour in addition to school credit.
500 reasons to vote against Mitt Romney and for Barack Obama. Need more? Obama's top 50 accomplishments. And why every woman should vote tomorrow. This 99 year old Florida woman cast her first ballot, ever, this election -- for Obama. Red State Spex by Tom Tomorrow. Yep, that's how too many of our neighbors see the world. Possibly related, the Obama Conspiracy-O-Rama. |
