Want to see South Alabama Congresswoman Martha Roby (R) literally flee the room? Ask her about redistribution of wealth, as Jan Helfeld did in this -- abbreviated -- interview.
Roby says she opposes redistribution of wealth except to farmers through the Farm Bill, which she says was originally a bad idea -- "We probably should have never gone there" -- but now supports. Initially, Roby strings together an impressive list of platitudes (I believe in the private sector, I believe in free markets, I believe in capitalism ... provide for a strong national defense ... protect freedom and liberty ... pull themselves up by their own bootstraps) when asked about redistribution. Then when Helfeld asks her about redistribution of wealth from citizens to banks and bankers Roby literally flees the scene, leaving her press secretary to complain that she thought Helfeld would only ask Roby about "issues."
Apparently, redistributing wealth from all of us to the banksters is not an "issue" to Martha Roby. It's a topic she's afraid to discuss.
What a coward.
Martha Roby has an opponent this cycle. If you think Roby is too cowardly to represent Alabama's second congressional district, you need to vote for Therese Ford on November 6th.
